Neoclassical Secretaire Abattant

5,000.00

Architectural mahogany and oak fall-front secretary.  The entablature drawer studded at the top by ornamental pressed brass with star design is supported by slim full round columns which rest on diminishing square bases.  These columns have finely cast bases and capitals.  The cantilevered secretary desktop opens to reveal an original felt work surface and document drawers and pigeonholes.  The base of the cabinet houses three drawers with their original oval pressed brass bale pulls and escutcheons.  Empire style, France c. 1800.

  • Measurements: width 39",  depth 18.5", height 59.25"
  • Condition: Good.  Original finish, minor repairs to original veneer. The oak top, which sags slightly and is split, is likely the finished substrate for an absent marble top, which could be replaced if desired.
  • Specifications: 1 item
  • Reference number: CAS-0001
  • Location: Brooklyn, NY 11216
