A rare piece of cultural history of international significance, offered here are six signed, circa 1918, quarter sawn oak mission style Stickley Brothers chairs which were used by American artist, producer and director Andy Warhol (1928-1987) and his following in the dining room of Warhol's studio in New York City known as "the Factory" as well as a matching contemporary extending circular table with two leaves. The Factory had three separate locations from its inception in 1962 to its closure in 1984, moved finally to 22 E. 33rd St. The studio was the creative powerhouse in which Warhol propelled Pop art into the Silver Era, mass producing prints, lithographs, films, and various other art forms under Warhol's direction. The workers in the Factory dubbed the Warhol Superstars included a wide swathe of personages: adult film actors, socialites, musicians, drag queens, and drug addicts all contributed to the production. Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, and Truman Capote were frequent guests of The Factory while Allen Ginsberg and Salvador Dali would make occasional appearances.

The chairs, which all bear their original Stickley Brothers label retain their original finishes and have a strong patina and speak to their remarkable history.
