Pair of Early 19th Century Italian Neoclassical Gilt Figural Six-Light Sconces

$14,500.00

An exquisite pair of giltwood six-light wall sconces. The light is supported by the figure of a winged seraphim whose draped lower half melds into a molded bracket and acanthus pendant. The upper half of the bracket is decorated with a large scallop with beading and scrolls. The angel's upward turned hands are encircled by spiraling tendrils of acanthus which dip dramatically downward and rise up with classical branches and candle bobeches. An exuberant expression of 19th century classical motifs and forms, Italy, circa 1815.
